The Ambersweet Orange is a complex hybrid (sweet orange × tangelo × clementine) developed by the USDA for early-season production. Released in the late 1980s, it combines sweet orange flavor with mandarin-like traits and was designed as a dual-purpose variety for fresh market and juice. It matures earlier than most sweet oranges and offers attractive amber-colored flesh.

At North Florida Citrus Nursery, our Ambersweet trees are valued for their early harvest window, good flavor, and moderate cold hardiness. They perform well for northern citrus growers looking for a reliable early sweet orange.
