The Ichang Papeda (often called Ichang Lemon) is a unique, extremely cold-hardy citrus native to central China. It is one of the most frost-tolerant true citrus species, known for its large, fragrant, lemon-scented leaves and flowers, along with thick-skinned, intensely sour fruit primarily used for flavoring, preserves, or breeding rather than fresh eating. It has been instrumental in developing cold-hardy citrus hybrids.
At North Florida Citrus Nursery, our Ichang trees are prized for their remarkable cold tolerance and ornamental appeal. They make an excellent hardy option for northern citrus enthusiasts seeking unique, resilient varieties.
