The Murcott Tangerine, also known as the Honey Tangerine, is a flavorful tangor (tangerine × sweet orange hybrid) that became popular through Florida’s citrus heritage. Its early history is linked to USDA plantings around 1916 and the nursery of Charles Murcott Smith in Pinellas County, Florida, in the early 1920s. The fruit is exceptionally sweet with a rich, complex flavor that has made it a longtime favorite for fresh eating.
At North Florida Citrus Nursery, our Murcott Tangerine trees are prized for their outstanding flavor and productivity, making them an excellent choice for growers seeking a premium late-season tangerine.
