The Sunburst Tangerine is Florida’s most widely grown early-season commercial tangerine, developed by USDA researcher C.J. Hearn in Orlando. It resulted from a 1961 cross between the Robinson and Osceola hybrids and was released in 1979. The fruit is known for its deep orange color, excellent flavor, and attractive appearance, with good resistance to scab and moderate cold hardiness.
At North Florida Citrus Nursery, our Sunburst Tangerine trees are valued for their early ripening, vibrant color, and strong Florida heritage, making them a top choice for growers wanting reliable early tangerines.
